Marina Toumpouri

Marina Toumpouri (PhD, University of Lille, 2010) is an Art historian, holding the position of Experienced Research Fellow. Her involvement in the project concentrates on the holistic documentation of movable and immovable heritage, as well as of intangible heritage using an array of data acquired by digital and more traditional methods. 

In the past ten years Marina has held a curatorial position and has been involved in important research projects in the field of cultural heritage, at various institutions in Cyprus, Greece and France. Her research focuses on Byzantine and Crusader manuscript cultures, the cross-cultural interactions in the Medieval Mediterranean and the methods of work of craftsmen and painters in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Byzantine and the Crusader period. More recently she has been researching and publishing on the production of archaeological knowledge in digital environments, the increasing multiplicity of links between archaeological practices, knowledge work and current societal challenges.
